Research Manager

 

As the Manager of Research at Proprio, you will be responsible for managing all labs that support medical device product development, marketing and regulatory submissions, inclusive of user research. You will have responsibility for the research lab, organization of supplies and equipment to support studies and coordination of users and test participants as needed.

 

Responsibilities:

 

·      Collaborate with engineering team to create protocols or test plans to support product development feasibility testing inclusive of benchtop models and cadaveric specimens

·      Work with regulatory to create validation protocols for pre-clinical studies, execute testing, and generate reports to support regulatory submissions for medical devices

·      Plan and execute studies, analyze data

·      Collaborate with marketing team to determine appropriate benchtop studies to support possible claims or publications

·      Overall responsibility for the Research lab at the Proprio facility.  Ensuring lab is useable, supplies or available and equipment meets specifications

·      Work with outside consultants as needed to execute usability testing to support product development projects and regulatory submissions

·      Work with marketing team to recruit and schedule users to support testing

·      Manage ab/research technician personnel

·      Engage with outside consultants as necessary for specific expertise: Human Factors/Usability, Statistics, Clinical expertise, etc.

 

Qualifications:

 

Required

·      Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field

·      10+years’ experience in a research, validation or test role supporting product development or pre-clinical work in a medical device company

·      Experience managing direct report/s

·      Excellent problem solving, analytical and project management skills

·      Strong written skills

·      Flexible, positive attitude, and great communicator

·      Ability to balance multiple priorities simultaneously

 

Preferred

·      Understanding of IEC 62366 (Application of usability engineering to medical devices)

·      Experience running or supporting Usability evaluations

·      Experience managing studies with cadaveric specimens

·      Experience with complex medical devices (inclusive of hardware and software)

·      Experience with medical device development process

·      Salary Range: $130,000- $155,000: Our compensation philosophy is to bring people into new roles in the range of the mid-point of that role. Factors considered for pay include the level of skill, experience, training, external market factors, and internal equity.
