Job Summary: The primary focus of the Principal AI Engineer role within Proprio’s Advanced Technology team is to develop new AI/ML based applications that exploit the wealth of data that Proprio’s Paradigm system gathers during its use in surgery.
Responsibilities:
· Ownership of the full machine learning development cycle for AI features in our device and independent AI-based projects.
· Quick Proof-of-Concept feature ownership around Machine Learning, Deep Learning including Computer Vision as well Natural Language Processing.
· Working with other groups in Software Engineering and collaborating with the overall team in delivering value-driven AI features that are innovative, customer-driven and deployable on our device.
· Maintaining a research and development outlook by continuously keeping in touch with the latest developments in AI that could be relevant to Proprio’s future product development needs.
Minimum Qualifications:
· Master’s or PhD in computer science, electrical engineering, mathematics or related field.
· 6 years of commercial experience in software engineering.
· At least 4 years of AI/ML/DL experience.
· Knowledge of python.
· Knowledge and experience in a range of deep learning areas including CV, NLP and LLMs.
· Expertise in handling video data as input to building complex AI apps.
Preferred Qualifications:
· All of the above plus experience developing and commercializing an AI based product preferably in the medical device space.
· Previous experience developing Foundational Models is highly preferred.

· Salary Range: $165,000- $200,000: Our compensation philosophy is to bring people into new roles in the range of the mid-point of that role. Factors considered for pay include the level of skill, experience, training, external market factors, and internal equity.
